Deben District are pleased to announce that we are planning to hold a link camp to help the transition from Cubs to Scouts. In previous years the District has run this camp annually, we are resurrecting this year. Its always a great success and an excellent opportunity for Cubs to experience activities that the older Scout Section has to offer.

The camp is for Scouting members between the age of 9 ½ and 11 ½ years old (at leaders discretion).

It is almost time for Link Camp, we hope that your child is looking forward to attending. It is a long time since we asked you to sign up and now it’s time to give you more information. During the camp young people will be kept busy with various activities. There is lots to look forward too!

Please arrive in Cub Jumper/Scout shirt and scarf but casual trousers and trainers/ boots.

You will need to have eaten your evening meal before arriving at camp.

Planned Activities (subject to change):

  • Air Rifle Shooting
  • Pioneering
  • Bushcraft
  • Orienteering
  • Backwards Cooking
  • Campfire
  • Wide Games
  • Gun Run

Kit List

The camp kit list is available here so you know what to bring.

The kit list includes a request for a “cake” to share. We will have “cake breaks” during the camp. We like to try family specialities, so homemade cakes are much appreciated. Please send one cake per family or enough for 4/5 portions. If you have special dietary needs, please provide suitable alternatives marked with their name, and we will keep these separately.

We understand that you may wish to send your child some “snacks” to share with friends or for a midnight feast.  Please, however, consider the site is a field and will have plenty of native wildlife, including ants and squirrels. Nothing is worse than a child finding that the kit has been invaded by ants/wasps or that a squirrel has been rummaging through their things. Your child will be fed during the weekend, and there will be alternatives for fussy eaters, and there will be cake!

Be aware that it is chilly in the evening and especially overnight so bring clothes that can be layered.

Health and Consent Forms

Please ensure your health information is up to date with your groups, whether that is via OSM or paper records, etc.

Please find attached the shooting permission form, which you must complete and print in order for your child to attend this activity. Please ensure you bring a printed and signed copy to camp.

Payment for the camp will be due after the camp has finished. Groups to collect money via their usual methods (Cash, Cheque, BACs, OSM, etc).

The total fee for camp is (many will already have paid £10 deposit):

If there are any payment issues, please get in touch with your section leader.
